Well, we’re starting to have people come into open game nights! We are not, however, getting people into special game days/nights. I think for now we’ll cancel all but the Thursday and Saturday gaming. And Puzzle Night, because puzzles are cool, and so is Marcy the puzzle genius. If you would like to request a game night, let us know and we’ll schedule it, send out special notices, and try to get people to join you. Once things get up and running better, we’ll start adding in more events again. Right now, though, it’s a little exhausting to hope for and not get much attendance. Please keep in mind that we are still really happy if you’d like to come in any time to play with us. Consider all day every day open gaming if you’d like.
Here goes another shoutout to Justin the sleepy guy: thanks for coming in twice today! Tell your brother I’m still reeeeeally sorry I forgot his name. Forgive? Come back? (It’s Ryan, Ryan, Ryan, RYAN.)
Of special note is the Bunko (Bonko? Bunco? Bonco? whatever) night on Tuesday, September 2nd. This is a regular game group that meets once a month, but I’m told that they welcome anyone who’d like to play. Check out the calendar for more details. I got a crash course in how to play today, and it looks like a lot of fun.
New in the store this week? Curses!, a party game that’s full of laughs (or annoyances, depending on your personality), Arkham Horror and its expansions, Wizard, Munchkin Die, D&D 4th Ed DM Screen, and more Ticket to Ride Nordic Countries. We were supposed to get Take the Train, 4Mation, and Pinochle cards as well, but they didn’t come in–neither did the Killer Bunnies. I’m shocked. You? Yeah, I didn’t think so. Thanks Playroom Entertainment! Appreciate the support! No, I’m not bitter. Why’d you ask?
See you all soon, and here’s hoping we have a clamoring of requests for more game days!
Oh, and the Carcassonne Tournament results are posted in the forums.

We are so excited to do our first tournament tomorrow (Saturday) at 1p.m. Rio Grande Games has sent us some exclusive tiles not available in any expansion, and we are going to use them in the tournament and give some away as prizes as well.
So here’s the deal: no one has requested any specific expansions, so we’re going to use Princess & Dragon (because eating other people’s meeples is funny) for sure and one other expansion.
Check the forums for tournament structure, rules & prizes.
In the meantime: we got Ticket to Ride Nordic Countries this week. We have only one left, so hurry in if you want it. We also got every Zombies!!! expansion we could find since everyone loves them so much. Munchkin Quest the Boardgame is still at the printers. What can ya do? Playroom Entertainment, the makers of Killer Bunnies, swears they have the games in and will be shipping them early next week. We’ll cross our fingers & hope we get them before Friday, yes?
We’ll see you all tomorrow!

So a representative from Steve Jackson Games came in today and suddenly I feel like a real game store! We’re going to get together with the Munchkin team and plan a tournament/demo day soon, so stay tuned. Now if I could just get those guys over at Z-Man Games in we’d be all set. Well, and Wizards and…actually I need a few more reps over here validating me.
I know I only posted a couple of days ago, but this week has been incredible. No, we’re not selling enough to pay the bills yet, but the people who are coming in and talking and playing are so great. There’s just something about gamers that is so welcoming and warm. I guess that’s what happens when you play games that require actual human interaction in a non-virtual world (not that I have anything against video games–I play those too sometimes). You are honestly the people I most want to know, and I am so lucky to have this venue to do just that.
Special Kudos to my best gamers: Justin, Brian, Zach, Scott, Mieke, Chris, and Jay (in no particular order, of course). Thanks for making the days fly by! (And, Justin, get some sleep man!)

Really…literally one dollar. Come into the store, you people!
I have observed the most amazing phenomenon that maybe someone can explain to me. People drive by the front of the store slooooowly, craning their heads around to peer inside. Some people loop through the side parking lot to take another pass. Then they drive away. What’s up with that? Come inside and check us out up close and personal. We promise not to tie you up and hold you hostage if you don’t buy anything. We even promise not to hover obnoxiously if you prefer to browse alone (we may notice you reading the back of a game and give you an enthusiastic review, however–this is the way we (try to) make our living after all). If you have a little bit of time, request a game demo. We love playing games with new people!
We’re ordering in a bunch of new stuff this week and should have Agricola next week. If you preorder one of the games coming out soon, by the way, we’ll give you 10% off the purchase price. So check out our order board and let us know if there’s something you really want. Some of the new stuff coming in soon: Munchkin Board Game (date unknown, but hopefully August), Ticket to Ride Nordic Countries (this week, holy cow!), Tigris & Euphrates (reprint, double-sided board, Fall), Carcassonne The New World (October), and Descent Tomb of Ice (September). I will post exact ship dates as soon as I have them. We have all of these games on preorder for the store, so help us move to the front of the line by giving us larger preorder numbers (and save some money for yourselves while you’re at it).
In the meantime, check out the forums and the calendar for the Carcassonne tournament coming up this Saturday, August 23rd. Rio Grande Games (the maker of Carcassonne) is sending us some special expansions to give away, so sign up soon!

It’s nice to have regulars, yes? We have a few people who like to come in and game with us a couple of times a week, and it’s great. Now all we need is to have game nights attended by something resembling, I don’t know…people. We haven’t exactly been an overnight success, but every new person through the door gives us hope. Tell your friends and neighbors we’re here, because the bank construction RIGHT in front of us isn’t helping with exposure.
We broke out Carcassonne last week, and it’s my current new favorite game. Seriously, how many games are out there that play really well with two people? Carcassonne totally does, and it kills lots of time during dead hours in the store. I even manage to win every once in a while. Heck, my mom even likes to play (although that may have something to do with her winning the first 4 games she played). I can’t wait to get the new expansions we ordered this week. I’m told the dragon totally rules (or makes people angry, whichever camp you believe).
We’re also getting some new puzzles from Sunsout this week. They are totally made in the USA, so that’s pretty darn cool.
For those of you wondering: the newest update from Playroom Entertainment is that Killer Bunnies will be shipping by the end of the month. We’ll believe it when we see it, but cross your fingers.
We have some great new titles coming in this week, (we even had a glimmer of hope of getting Agricola, but it’s shipping next week instead–stay tuned) so be sure to come in and check the new stuff out! Thanks to all of you requesting games. We can only get better with your help.

Oh, wow, was the Grand Opening cool or what? We met so many great people, some of whom stayed for several hours to play some really great games. Thank you to all of you who were so supportive and, more importantly, a blast to be around!

Congratulations to Jeff Meadows, winner of the Grand Prize drawing and proud owner of a shiny new $50 gift certificate! Jeff played in both the Settlers of Catan mini-tournament at 1:00pm and the Ticket to Ride mini-tournament at 3:00pm. He walked away with highest honors in Settler, crushing the competition with 6 points to their 3 or less. Pretty savvy to build that Longest Road there, Jeff! He couldn’t repeat in Ticket to Ride, but hey, you can’t win them all. Best of luck to you down there at BYU in Provo, and we hope to see you in again on the weekends!

Congratulations as well to Casey Vasquez, winner of a $10 gift card. Casey came in at 9:30am to be introduced to Munchkin and stayed to play Great Dalmuti, Banangrams, Shut the Box, Munchkin, and Jishaku. Holy cow, no wonder he won something!
Kim Howe walked away with top honors in the World’s Most Difficult Puzzle contest. Players had to put together 20 pieces of this monster, and it took longer than they imagined. Congratulations to all who played in this tournament, because not one of them gave up even after Kim won!
Special mention definately needs to go out to Devin Tessers and Justin Dexter. Devin came in with his wife to play in the Settlers tournament, left to take his wife to work, came back to play in the T2R tournament, and stayed until we closed. Devin, it was a pleasure to meet you and your wife, and even more a pleasure to be beaten by you in 6 consecutive different games that you’ve never played before. Wait a minute…what did I just say?
Justin has been amazing, coming in before we even opened to talk to us about his favorite games and coming back several times to teach us new things to play. He even brought Apple Beer to share! Justin has brought in his brother and sent in several friends, so he’s definately our favorite kind of customer! Best of all, we’ve got a new friend, and who can have too many of those?
Thanks have to go out to KBull for the wonderful job Cornbread Cody Allen did with the remote broadcast. If you want to get a thrill, listen to a professional DJ throw together an on-the-spot commercial for something you’re doing. Wow, that was cool. You guys are awesome!

Seriously, we’ve met so many wonderful people, and all of you are so excited to have a game store so close to home here on the West Side. Thank you for your generosity in coming to play with us. We hope to know so many more of you soon!

I just got back from camping with my daughter, and boy was it hot up in Wallsburg. We had a ton of fun, but it was nice to get back to my shower and away from the 19 giggling girls.
Well, we’re open (and a bit lonely, you people out there!) The Grand Opening Celebration is tomorrow, so please come and see us. It’s going to be a huge party, so don’t miss it! We’ll be taking and posting lots of pictures, so put on your party face!
So far, we’re getting a lot of requests to hold a chess tournament. If interest remains high, we’ll make sure to schedule it in. Come in and let us know or email us if that sounds like something in which you’d like to participate.
We’re going to have store-only specials throughout the day tomorrow, so be sure to come on in at different times to see what we’ve got going. Check out the hourly contests as well. You could win some games and a gift certificate just for participating. If you win, you even get a free t-shirt! Best of all, join the PUG Club and be automatically entered to win your entire purchase for free!
Check back soon. Now that we’re open for business, we should be posting more often.
