Long Time

Thursday, September 18th, 2008

I keep expecting the web site to be moved and figured I’d post when it happens. Since site movement is apparently super complicated and time-consuming, I guess I’ll stop waiting.

Lots of cool stuff is happening here. We’ve got a regular Magic group every Wednesday afternoon for anyone out there who’d like to come and join. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday are becoming staple gaming nights, and we even have a few people come in almost every night of the week now (wave Justin & Jason, Marcy & Jay!) Part of what we wanted to do when we opened this place (besides make a little money, of course) was to build a community, so it’s great to see it start to happen.

Killer Bunnies came in last week, and we’re just about ready to reorder because it’s been so popular. We did have to reorder theĀ Pirates of the Cursed Seas PMG since people really love the boats and bought us out within a couple of days. I ordered more than twice as many this week, and it looks like it still might not have been enough.

This Friday is National Talk Like a Pirate Day. We’ll be playing pirate games all night and, since it’s also puzzle night, we’ll be doing a pirate puzzle too. We’ve even got one promise to come in dressed like a pirate (hey Bob!) Come in dressed up or not, we don’t care. Get into character enough, though, and we might be persuaded to give you a discount.

That’s it for now. Hopefully we’ll see you all in the store soon!

Killer Bunnies Update

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

I know, I’m shocked about two blog entries the same day too.

Here’s the thing: I got tired of having the people at Playroom tell me things were shipping when they weren’t, so I followed up the latest phone call with an email. Apparently that got their attention, because a really nice man named Tony called and told me the reason nothing was shipping was because my order was on hold until they got every single set of Killer Bunnies ready to ship. They are still missing Khaki and…one other color, so there was no chance that anything would ship for me. No chance. And all those times that people there looked up my account? No one said a thing about a hold or about their not having two colors yet. I asked him to release the hold, and he did.

I just got the UPS confirmation! My guess is that they’ll be here Monday since they’re shipping from California.

I guess I was due for a miracle. Maybe I should have asked for a million dollars instead?

Bunco & All That is Fun

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

Bunco (as my mother insists I spell it) went really well last night. The regular group is a ton of fun, and they had a good time looking around at the games as well. As a matter of fact, it went so well that they’ve decided to hold their regular, monthly games at the store! So if any of you are looking for something fun and easy to do the first Tuesday of the month, come and join them. They’d love to have a third table. Five bucks gets you lots of refreshments and prizes for the winners. Also screaming. Lots of screaming.

We didn’t do an order this week because rent is due. Rent bites. Why can’t we stay here for free? Man, I’m poor. Maybe I should sell a couple of kids so I can pay my mortgage. The order board is up for next week, though, and we’re still getting a couple of late shipments this week. We should be getting more Blokus today as well as Pinochle cards, 4Mation, and Take the Train. Maybe Killer Bunnies will actually ship, too–if there’s a miracle in store for me, that is. Playroom Entertainment swore to me last week that the order would ship by Wednesday. Funny thing is, they said the exact same thing this week. Do I believe them? Not really, but maybe they’ll surprise me.

On to more pleasant topics, Chris & Marci Ebert are coming in next Thursday, September 11, at 6:00pm to demo and play the Pirates of the Cursed Seas PMG (Pocket Model Game). We’d love to support them in their passion for this game, so be sure to check it out. The event is free, of course, and we’ll have some of the packets to purchase in the store. They’re only $3.99, and every one of them includes enough to actually play a full game. Check out the calendar for more information, and hopefully we’ll see you there!
