D&D Forevah

Monday, October 27th, 2008

Wow, Weekend in the Realms was a ton of fun, and the turnout was incredible. Thanks so much to our DM’s: Chris, Don, and Justin. Thanks especially to Don Brown, who set the whole thing up and got the word out. We had 3 full tables running, which was just amazing (and loud, but whatever). I hope the players had a great time, and I hope we can start hosting D&D events regularly, because these people are amazing and totally fun to be around.

Lazy Cut & Paste from the weekly Email!

We’ve got Munchkin Booty this week! For those of you who love Munchkin, you probably already know all about this new Munchkin, but for those of you needing more info, you can check it out here: http://www.sjgames.com/munchkin/munchkinbooty/. If you don’t want to go to all the trouble of clicking on the link, there’s a picture up there.
I haven’t played it yet, but my kids are super psyched.

Magic

It looks like the wedding disruption (Hey, Chris, you looked great!) is over, and the Magic people will be playing again starting next week. Let me know if you want any more info on the group and when they’re planning to be here.

D&D

We’re still running the Weekend in the Realms this week. It’s an exclusive adventure called Beneath Haunted Halls, and the schedule is below. If you want to know more about it, go here http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/drrep/20080820 or check out the forums/calendar on our web site.

Friday, 24 Oct: LFR (Living Forgotten Realms) character creation workshop, 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm
Friday, 24 Oct: WEEK1-1 “Beneath Haunted Halls” Part 1 @ 6:00 pm
Saturday, 25 Oct: LFR character creation workshop 10:00 am to 12:00 pm
Saturday, 25 Oct: WEEK1-2 “Beneath Haunted Halls” Part 2 @ 12:00 pm
Saturday, 25 Oct: WEEK1-3 “Beneath Haunted Halls” Part 3 @ 4:00 pm

We also have a group who wants to hang out later on Friday to do part 2, since they can’t come in Saturday. You may be able to join them, depending on how many stay.

This is all 4th Edition D&D stuff, by the way, so if you’ve been wondering if you’d even like the new stuff, this is an easy way to check it out without having to invest a million dollars in new books.

Site News

The web site was successfully moved, but there are still broken parts. I think the calendar is all set finally, but we still need to put the searchable games database online. Please bear with us while we sort this all out. In the meantime, let me just apologize for everything that isn’t working. We’re slow, what can I say?

That’s it for now, but hopefully we’ll see you all in soon!

Let’s Do This One More Time

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

Well, I wrote a couple of posts recently that got lost when we switched servers, so here’s my best attempt to recreate the information.

First of all, you may have intuited that our site’s server switch has been successfully completed. At this point, I now need to create a searchable game database. I’m not sure how to do that, so this should be interesting. In addition, the calendar isn’t working right (you can only see September), and we need to figure out a fix for that as well. Obviously, the buttons are also off because they mainly pointed to areas in the ecommerce that no longer exist. They’ll pull up the first–index–page but won’t go any deeper. I apologize, and we’ll get those fixed ASAP as well. Web sites are a pain, did you know that?

In the meantime, Weekend in the Realms, a D&D event, is moving forward as planned. The schedule is as follows:

Friday, 24 Oct: LFR character creation workshop, 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm
Friday, 24 Oct: WEEK1-1 “Beneath Haunted Halls” Part 1 @ 6:00 pm
Saturday, 25 Oct: LFR character creation workshop 10:00 am to 12:00 pm
Saturday, 25 Oct: WEEK1-2 “Beneath Haunted Halls” Part 2 @ 12:00 pm
Saturday, 25 Oct: WEEK1-3 “Beneath Haunted Halls” Part 3 @ 4:00 pm

Our main DMs are Don Brown and Chris Connelley, with a few others filling in for a game or two as well. Each adventure should take about 3 hours, so plan accordingly. We are expecting great turnout for this. Sign up early to make sure you get a seat.

We also got Agricola finally. We’ve sold several and only have a couple left. If you’re interested in picking up the game that’s been #1 on board game geek for ages make sure you get it soon, because I don’t anticipate being able to get any more until Christmas at the earliest.

That’s about it, I think. If you have any suggestions for the web site, let me know at dawn@epicpug.com or through comments here (don’t use the contact form–it isn’t working either). Now’s the best time for changes, obviously, and I take feedback seriously.

PS–I also lost my International Talk Like a Pirate Day post, which sucks. I’m not going to rewrite it, but here are the pictures:
