Munchkin Night

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

Wow, we had a lot of fun with Dennis on our first monthly Munchkin Night! They started with Munchkin Cthulhu and moved onto Munchkin Quest, finishing just after closing. I haven’t got a clue who top Munchkin was, but here’s a couple of pics to drool over:

We are looking forward to this being a regular event on the 3rd Saturday of each month, and we hope to see even more of you next time!

In the meantime, join us for regular game nights every Saturday and for Killer Bunnies today (Friday). We have refreshments….

Bang!

Friday, January 16th, 2009

Well, holy cow, Bang! is finally available. Bang! has been our most-requested out-of-print game since the day we opened our doors, so it’s a relief to finally be able to offer it to you. It, and its counterpart Bang!: The Bullet, will be available for purchase by 3pm on Monday, January 19th. Anyone who preordered the game will get 10% off its purchase. Anyone who mentions this blog entry can also get 10% off Bang! on Monday only.

This card game recreates an old-fashioned spaghetti western shoot-out, with each player randomly receiving a Character card to determine special abilities and a secret Role card to determine their goal.

Four different Roles are available, each with a unique victory condition:

  • Sheriff – Kill all Outlaws and the Renegade
  • Deputy – Protect the Sheriff and kill any Outlaws
  • Outlaw – Kill the Sheriff
  • Renegade – Be the last person standing

There are 22 different types of cards in the draw deck. Most common are the BANG! cards, which let you shoot at another player, assuming the target is within “range” of your current gun. The target player can play a “MISSED!” card to dodge the shot. Other cards can provide temporary boosts while in play (for example, different guns to improve your firing range) and special one-time effects to help you or hinder your opponents (such as Beer to restore health, or Barrels to hide behind during a shootout). A horse is useful for keeping your distance from unruly neighbors, while the Winchester can hit a target at range 5. The Gatling is a deadly exception where range doesn’t matter – it can only be used once, but targets all other players at the table!

Want more Bang! for your buck? Try Bang!: The Bullet.

Bang! The Bullet! is the deluxe version of Bang! and its expansions. Coming in a deluxe bullet-’box’ it contains:

- Bang! – Third Edition with reworked cards and rules
- Dodge City – Second Edition with reworked cards and characters
- High Noon – Second Edition
- High Noon II (A Fistful Of Cards) – Second Edition
- Two new exclusive High Noon cards – “New Identity” and “Handcuffs”
- Three new characters – “Uncle Will”, “Johnny Kisch”, and “Santa Claus”
- Two blank cards
- One silver sheriff badge

Bang! retails for $19.99, and Bang!: The Bullet retails for $39.99.

A few new things…

Friday, January 9th, 2009

We are officially making the 3rd Saturday of each month Munchkin night starting at 6pm! Dennis from Steve Jackson Games will be running the Munchkin stuff, so make sure to come in for a really great time.

In addition, we’ve restarted Saturday game nights for those of you bemoaning their loss. It’s a lot of fun, so don’t miss it.

One or two Fridays a month will now be designated as Pirate PMG night for those of you dying to blow people up and steal their booty. Check the calendar for dates and details.

We are severly overstocked from Christmas still, so we’re blowing out most of our Melissa & Doug stock. M&D supply most of our floor puzzles, wooden kids’ puzzles, toys, etc. Everything is 35% off until we get back down to a manageable supply. Come in and take advantage. :)

That’s it for now; see you soon!

Quick Hello

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

Wow, Christmas was a lot of fun. We met so many nice people and spent a lot of time talking about what we love best: games. Now we are back to normal and I have time to do the things that went by the wayside when we were busy, so you get a blog entry!

We have had some requests to start game nights again, so we are going to do Saturdays again to see how it goes. If lots of people come in we’ll start up Thursday or Friday as well. Dennis from Steve Jackson Games also wants to do a regular Munchkin day once a month, and we’ll let you know more about that soon. We also still have Magic players coming in on Wednesdays so feel free to join them if you’d like.

January is boring. I’m just saying.
